Indian tennis pro and World Number 84 Somdev Devvarman surprised spectators in his third-round match against Belgian Xavier Malisse, defeating the 59thseed in 3 straight sets with a tie breaker.

Devvarman secured his spot in the main draw of the Indian Wells tournament after fighting for two rounds in the qualifying matches. He defeated French player Adrian Mannarino in the first round and Marcos Baghdatis in the second round of the tournament.

Devvarman will next face World No.1 Nadal in the next round which is round of 16.
